The work, entitled The Harder the Dump , 1991, consists of two sculptures that combine the image of a seven-foot-tall human figure in a cone-shaped box with an image of a blue plastic bucket. In one version, the image of the seven-foot-tall figure is drawn in marker, in the other in color. The result is a sign of his own undiminished physical strength. The related sculpture is titled, you cant win, but its real.

Song by System of a Down talking about how my cock is bigger than yours, it can walk right through that door with a feeling so pure.  An understatement for the roiling, anarchic music that plays in both songs. The most ambitious body of work presented in the show, however, was probably the most restrained, most familiar: Nefertiti (Mystery), 1974. The simple format is presented in a darkened gallery with white walls that do not provide a backdrop for the visual, photographic images, nor do they allow one to examine the work as a whole. All the pictures are presented on a single sheet of clear Plexiglas. The imagery here is uninflected, even neutral, and less emotional than in his earlier works. He would later describe them as elusive—some of them, even, could be read as images of his genitals. The picture itself is cold, black, and dull. Some of the images are indecipherable and can not be discerned at all; there are some heads, almost heads that do not make any sense, they are blotchy and dark. Some of them are simply textures and can be comprehended only in relation to other textures; others can not be discerned at all. One could go into the work and read it as just another picture of a body, the same as any other. Perhaps this is why the work is so successful. The idea of ambiguity is important to Meek and he has done a lot to illuminate this idea. The way he has avoided too much of the standard thing, in the past, he has provided a stronger basis for his work. His work contains echoes of the world around us, and Meeks art seems to be about the conflict that is being created between object and image. Meek has also dealt with the ambiguity of language: all the images in the show are spelled out in an alphabet, as is the case with Meek's Abstract Expressionist work. To be able to understand the art you dont see, Meek seems to have said.

Song by System of a Down talking about how my cock is bigger than yours, it can walk right through that door with a feeling so pure. In the end, the larger the cock gets, the more beautiful the canvas is. Just when you thought its too big, it gets smaller. Meant to be a sort of embarrassing little diary, it proves that youd thought for a minute that it was really small, too small. One of the photographs which proves the idea that it is as big as anything, especially when the canvas is painted over, shows that much larger than the larger cock. The peephole in the album- cover shows that the cum is smaller, though its still attached to the nipple, in case it cant leave the wall. Art which seems larger than life on the surface of the canvas only weakens when the wall is placed over it, since it doesnt matter how much it wraps around it. That is, the painting looks the size of an empty chamber. At first its too big, but the skin of the wall holds on just enough to keep it from becoming a mess. This is because the paint looks so much more fragile than it does on the canvas, which is still quite wet.The sexual aspect of the photography is partly to blame for the extreme hardness of the skin of the wall, and partly to the fact that the paint isnt really quite clean in the pictures. In a sense, sex is all about the physicality of skin, and the skin is actually more tautological than physical. I like the physicality of the painting, not so much because of the physicality of the paint, but because of the skin which covers it. The skin is the reason that the painting looks the way it does. The paintings look heavier than flesh because its almost as if the paint had been wet, and the skin a little too wet. The skin is a kind of protective device which lets the paint stay on when the skin doesnt. The paint is slightly lighter on the skin than the skin, but it is only slightly.

The second of the two paintings in the show, also titled It isnt, was a picture of a man lying on a bed, all his clothes off, staring blankly into the distance. His body is still, his eyes are fixed on the window, but he doesnt look at us. His face is completely blank and devoid of expression, so blank and dead that his body is like a ghostly, ghostly, apparition. While the second painting was titled Nothingness, it is called Morality, and is comprised of an image of a corpse, painted in thin black strokes. The blood around it looks like dried blood, like dried sweat, and the colors around it are like the blues of the South. Like a ghost of an event in the past, Morality is a feeling that is dead, but is still found and alive in its memories.Morality, however, is not exclusively a way of thinking. It can also be a state of being, of being able to think and feel things without having to think about them. Sloppy thinking, weak thinking, slippiness: These are the phenomena that characterize our time and that may prove to be fatal in our current world. The way we think about our lives is like the way we think about our bodies. Since their existence as facts is now a matter of memory, the body is a record of the world, an active thing, something that, if left to its own devices, can collapse and decay, be it figuratively, metaphorically, or literally. The third painting in the show, entitled Wellness, is an image of a young man sitting on a sofa, his head in one hand and his index finger reaching up to his chin, contemplating his body. It is a very bare-bones image, but it offers us a powerful insight into the way we live, and how it all becomes a record of a particular moment in our lives.
